Día de los Muertos 2011

Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a holiday where families remember and pray for those who have died. When Nora died in 2001, we had never heard of this holiday. A dear friend introduced this wonderful tradition to us and it took off. We had first started with a small ofrenda but ten years later our ofrenda has grown. This year , Nora's brother and sister decided to do most of the work , with mom putting on the finishing touch.

Our ofrendra includes Nora's picture, several art pieces from a wonderful Day of the Dead HeART trade, an altered book I made last year which remembers all of the children that I am honored to know, Nora's baby toys, and the tea set that was Abby's passed on to Nora, and a blanket that was especially made for Nora when she was born.
